VIRGINIA CAVALIERS WIN IN SHOOTOUT OVERTIME.

If you put enough heat and pressure on coal you could create a diamond, I guess the same goes for a team that used their historic loss as the first team #1 to lose to a #16 as heat and pressure to create a championship run and a national title as a result. The Wahoos celebrating their first NCAA title, the 2019 National Champions are heading home with the team’s first National Championship.

Tony Bennett’s defense-minded team pulls off stunning shootout by a score of 85-77. What started out as a Virginia winning 32-29 in the first half, Texas Tech woke up and unleash pure mayhem as a blowout became a shootout, neither of the teams kept the lead for more than 15 seconds, Sophomore forward De’Andre Hunter hit an open corner 3-pointer with 14 seconds left to tie the game, and junior forward Braxton Key tightly contested Jarrett Culver’s buzzer-beating jumper to send the game to overtime in Minneapolis, tied 68-68. In an overtime with lightning fast scoring Virginia came off with the win and along with it, UVA buried last year’s stunning first-round upset loss to #16 UMBC under a pile of gold and silver confetti and streamers.

“Forget last year, this is everything you dream of since you’re a little kid,” junior guard Ty Jerome said. “I’m not even thinking about UMBC right now. I’m just thinking this is a dream come true.” Tony Bennett said, “They stepped up in the moment, They faced pressure through the year, through the tournament, and all that stuff played into it.” Most Outstanding Player of the tournament Kyle Guy said,“We came in together and said that we were going to win a National Championship, and to be able to hug each other with confetti going everywhere and say we did it, it’s the greatest feeling I’ve ever felt in basketball.”

While all players were great tonight, one stood out the most, like in the NBA Finals there’s an MVP, with college it’s the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament, Kyle Guy. with the 7th overtime National Championship game in the books, here are some of the game stats, presented by ESPN, for the rest of the stats, go to http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/matchup?gameId=401123374
