The total number of global cases has surpassed 135,465 with 4,981 casualties. Over 69,645 patients have recovered.
Here’s the latest on Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Worldwide: Over 100 countries have now reported cases of CODIV-19 and 16 countries have completely shut down schools nationwide according United Nations and World Health Organization.
China: Hubei government to allow key industries to return to work, with new cases now in single digits, now saying it has passed the “peak” of the outbreak.
South Korea: Number of confirmed cases surpasses 7,700.
India: Confirmed cases rises to 60.
Italy: Under complete lockdown as number of cases jump and more than 1,000 casualties.
France: Confirms more than 1,000 cases and closes schools and universities.
Germany: Prime Minister Merkel cites evidence suggesting 70% of Germany could become infected.
Hungary: Travel Ban issued for flights from Italy, China, Iran, and South Korea.
UK: Health Minister tests positive for CODIV-19.
Canada: Records its first CODIV-19 death.
US: Number of confirmed cases top 1,323, with death toll at 41 and has issued travel bans for Europe (excluding UK)
- Virginia has 18 presumptive cases (three in Hampton Roads region) and has now declared a state of emergency.
- Loudoun County Schools have officially closed until March 20th, becoming the first school district to close due to COVID-19, temporarily.
- Longwood University student has tested presumptive positive for COVID-19.
- Chesterfield County Schools will be closed tomorrow.
- Henrico County Schools are currently discussing closure of school.
- Norfolk Public Schools have cancelled all field trips and extracurriculars.
- Hampton City Schools has cancelled all field trips and athletic events (including practices).
- Hampton City Schools has shut down Andrews K-8 after a student came into contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
- Matthew Whaley Elementary School in Williamsburg, VA has closed today, out of “an abundance of caution”.
Egypt: Over 100 positive tests in Africa, majorly in Egypt.
Turkey: Announces first case
Israel: Announces 14-day quarantine for overseas arrivals
Saudi Arabia: Has Suspended all classes until further notice with travel being halted between Saudi Arabia and other countries including Kuwait and Bahrain indefinitely.
