Varsity Football in First Game Back at Darling Stadium.

Coming off their two games away from Darling Stadium, which both ended in losses, the Kecoughtan Warriors are back under the lights at Darling Stadium, as they salute the Class of 2020’s players, band members, and NJROTC cadets. the Warriors rankings improving, Nationally, Kecoughtan(1-7) is 12,035th and Heritage(1-7) is 10,606th, while in the VHSL, Kecoughtan is 303rd and Heritage 266th. Representing the 5A, Kecoughtan is 52nd and in the 4A, Heritage is 45th. Both teams are coming off of awful losses and hope to redeem themselves with a victory Friday Night. Let’s review when they last met, the Kecoughtan Warriors would beat the Heritage Hurricanes by a score of 22-19 on October 6th, 2018. The Kecoughtan defense did good in making Heritage fumble the ball with a 70 yard touchdown return from the fumble, while the offense made it on the board with a 40 yard passing touchdown. The Kecoughtan offense would get back on the field after an unsuccessful field goal attempt and the Warrior wide receiver corp would gain one more touchdown and a successful and risky 2-point conversion.

But, it was the defense made the game-winning safety by forcing the Warwick running back back to fumble the football on the 40 yard line, however the offense couldn’t do anything, and the Warrior defense made the final hit that would intercept the ball  meant for the wide receiver corp, the Kecoughtan offense would knee the ball to end the game.

However, this is a new game and the Kecoughtan offense has struggled against teams with unbreakable defenses, that has recorded more than six sacks and four interceptions. Meanwhile the Kecoughtan defense has done a good job in pressuring the Quarterbacks of Bethel, Gloucester, Jamestown, and Denbigh.

Fortunately, in the second half, the defense has gotten better with preventing penalties but they’ve let the running backs slip through their line, with the opposing running back corps averaging about 25.5 YPG. If kecoughtan hopes to win, they must stay at the caliber they’re at during the first half. After Heritage, they will have their final game next Saturday against the Menchville Monarchs.
